I believe many people are deeply aware of the inconvenience caused by poor lighting in a house. Especially for small apartments on low floors in cities, the north and south are not transparent and there is insufficient sunlight. The room is always dark and the lights must be turned on in broad daylight, which is really annoying.

We all know that the lighting effect of a house is not only related to the distance between buildings, floor height and the orientation of the house, but also closely related to the area of the living room windows (lighting windows). Sunlight mainly shines in through windows, and rooms with windows have natural light. If the area of the window is too small, the natural light that comes in will be limited; if the area of the window is too large, the lighting will be sufficient but it may have an impact on indoor insulation and energy saving. Since the floor and orientation cannot be changed, improving the lighting effect can only start with doors and windows.

1. Reduce the size of door and window frames: If you consider the lighting requirements of the space, it is recommended to reduce the design separation of doors and windows when enclosing balconies and other windows, so that the glass area can occupy as much area as possible; at the same time, unnecessary opening fans should also be reduced to make the profiles visible The face becomes wider.

2. Glass selection is very important: Generally speaking, the light transmittance of normal insulating glass is around 85%. However, as the thickness of the single piece of glass, the number of glass layers increases, or Low-e glass coating is used, the light transmittance of door and window glass decreases. will decrease and there will be certain green light interference. Therefore, residents who have relatively high lighting requirements are recommended to choose ultra-clear glass original sheets over insulated glass or three-glass and two-cavity glass.

For the partition between the balcony and the living room, and the balcony and the bedroom, the non-load-bearing wall can be widened or removed; the customized design of the partition can be made into glass screens, sliding doors, folding doors, etc. to increase the lighting area.

3. The living room door depends on the situation: narrow-sided sliding doors are mostly used for living room doors, but in some cases they are not suitable for installing living room doors (one is a living room with few windows, and the other is a small living room). Few windows in the living room means poor lighting and difficult air circulation. In this case, it is not recommended to install a balcony door in the living room, otherwise it will make the living room darker and make it difficult for air to circulate in the home. If the living room itself is very small, if another door is installed, the activity area will be compressed and the living experience will be worse.

4. The bright effect in the house is related to the color of the doors and windows: The lighting conditions of the room limit the choice of door and window colors. For example, darker colors are suitable for rooms that face the sun, which can create a calm and elegant atmosphere. Rooms with good lighting have a wider range of choices, both dark and light colors. For rooms on low floors with insufficient lighting, you need to choose products with high brightness and suitable colors, and avoid using darker colors as much as possible.

North-facing rooms generally don't get enough light. Indoor compensation light (such as artificial light source) is required here; curtains should be chosen to be light and thin. If nature is not enough, we must make up for it artificially. Lighting should never be given up in a living room with poor lighting. Simple ceiling lamps and chandeliers can also create a bright atmosphere; using spotlights or light strips around the ceiling to allow light to hit the wall can make the overall light feel more uniform and brighter.

Of course, if there are rooms in your home where natural light cannot reach, then interior windows can play their role. For small apartments, indoor windows can always bring light through dark corners, and can also visually extend the space, making it larger and brighter.
